Introducing the Fat Face Night Ride 2008 –UCI C2

The beautiful weather and the electric atmosphere for the inaugural event, last year's Fat Face Night Race in Edinburgh was fantastic, and met with great response from the spectators & competitors, “the best race I have ever done” were some of the quotes from the competitors. This year, with a new town and a longer more challenging course, more room for the spectators this year's Fat Face Mountain Bike race promises even more. It all takes place on Saturday 4th October 2008 with the late night after race party why not make a weekend of it..

We have slected Scarborough, Britain’s first seaside resort, that has been welcoming visitors for over 360 years for the venue of this years Fat Face Night Race.

 

The Castle & North bay with sandy, accredited beaches of the North and South Bays are broken by a rocky headland on which stands Scarborough's medieval castle.

At night you will be spoilt for choice. loads of new cafes and bars, traditional ale pubs, nightclubs and a casino, Scarborough has a thriving night life.

Now into its second year, the ‘Fat Face Urban Downhill race’ is a fun downhill race for most competitors and a real good opportunity for the professional riders to show off the skills of the in front of a massive crowd, racing down the steep and testing course from the top of the rocky headland on which stands Scarborough's medieval castle down to the sea front & pier.

The family-friendly day will offer a competitive race for varying abilities over our challenging course, taking in steep steps, purpose built wooden jumps an exciting downhill race, with a backdrop of Scarborough historic coast line & spectacular scenery.

Spectators - Free

This is free to watch event just come down and take in the sites of this downhill mountain bikes race with a twist.

We have displays from all the UK's top suppliers and see the latest bikes on display.
There will be trade stands so you can buy some goodies or check out whats hot for next year.

Practice starts at 9am until late afternoon.

The seeding runs start at 4pm.
This is where the riders race at full speed down the course, this is to decide there starting order for the race.

Racing starts at 7pm with one race run down the course every second counts with the rider was the fastest time will race and share of the prize money pot split the boys and girls.

Parking 

Although there's limited parking near the site, we'd advise you not to try and bring your car. If you're staying in Scarborough, you're best leaving your car there and either walking or taking a taxi to the race. You can get more information on parking from the Scarborough Borough Council website.

Riders will be sent directions and parking via e-mail before the event

Directions to Scarborough by road 

From the North - Take the A1 or A19 southbound. Turn onto the A170 and stay on it into Scarborough. Follow signposts for South Bay. From Teesside, the A171 runs into Scarborough via Whitby - again, once you reach Scarborough, follow signposts for South Bay.

From the West - Leave the M62 at junction 29. Follow signs for the A64; you will then pick up signs for Scarborough. Once in the town, follow the signs for South Bay.

From the South - Both the A1 and the M1 run close to Leeds. The A64 from Leeds then runs directly to Scarborough. From here follow signposts for South Bay. From the M18, take the M62 Eastbound, leaving at junction 37 (Howden) and following the A614 via Driffield, where you will pick up signposts for Scarborough. Once in Scarborough, follow signs to the South Bay.

The race is limited to only 300 riders, please only enter if you intend to race as we can not offer any refunds or transfers for this event.
